2024 3D MODELLING & RENDERING PROJECT
My aim for this project was to create a reusable 3D background for my
webcomic. In my comic, this location (the protagonist’s house) will be a key area that many scenes take place in. Because of this, my main priority when creating this model was reusability. This means creating a 3D asset that can produce shots of many different angles and lighting conditions, with as little extra work per shot as possible.
I used this project as an opportunity to learn how to use Blender, as I had much more experience in Maya previously. However, I did do a large part of the retopology and modelling in Maya to help ease the transition. I sculpted and made sure the topology of the house worked well. I also UV unwrapped, and textured the building. I used a custom drawn texture for the external walls. In the future I plan to replace the premade assets inside the house with custom furniture that will fit the style and design of the home better.
This project was a part of my Bachelor of Design (Honours) degree as a self-driven elective course.
